This weekend was really eventful for me. My dad and his girlfriend (Kate) came into town this weekend for the Furman football game, but on top of the football game we did a lot of different things.
Friday night me, some of my friends, my dad, and Kate went to see Revenger’s Tradegy, a play put on by the theater department at Georgia Southern. It was only $5 with my student ID, and it was something different to do rather than just the usual everyday stuff we do in Statesboro. My roommate was in the show so seeing her and a bunch of her friends that I have met before in the show was really interesting. After the show we went to El Sombrero – if you have never been there, GO! It’s delicious Mexican food for a cheap price, plus the place is beautiful. It looks like palace and there are a ton of college kids there.
Saturday, the same group that went to the play all decided to tailgate in the tailgating lot outside of the football game, before watching the Eagles play Furman! We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and the guys threw the football while the girls chatted and took a lot of pictures! It was really fun to just chat with everyone and hang out before the game. We then went to the game and the Eagles lost, which was heartbreaking. I am a true blue fan and love GSU football, so the games – win or lose – are always fun to watch!
Sunday me, my dad, Kate and my boyfriend, Kirby, went to River Street in Savannah. River Street is great; it has so much going on and you can always find something new that you’ve never seen before. My favorite part is just walking around and going into random shops, trying candy from the candy stores and laughing at the random little gifts they have. I even got an airbrush tattoo – I’m wild, I know! We ate at Tubby’s Tank House and watched the different NFL football games.
I love weekends in Statesboro - there is always something to do. And when there isn’t Savannah is only 45 minutes away, and there is a lot to do there! Statesboro has a lot to offer, and attending events that GSU puts on gives you a way to do different things. I am excited for this weekend, when the Eagles play (and hopefully beat) the Citadel, and for another exciting weekend!
